Although your HVAC system is vital part of keeping your business, employees, and guests afloat, it is something many of us put on the back burner. That is until they break down or quit altogether. However, we encourage you to consider when the right time is to upgrade or simply improve your HVAC system. It is important that your building is comfortable in harsh winters, and cool in the heart of summer, while keeping your repairs at a minimum and cost effective.
We have created a list of a few signs you should pay close attention to, while assessing your HVAC unit. If you see one or more, it may be time to replace it.
Age of Units
After 10 years, you should definitely start researching replacements or upgrades to your HVAC unit. They will only perform efficiently and effectively for so long, until they start becoming a burden and cost inefficient.
Rise in Energy Costs
As HVAC systems age, they become less efficient, especially if they do not receive regular preventative maintenance. Most property owners only assess the cost-effectiveness of their HVAC system by the number on their energy bill each month. However, it’s important to also notice how much the repairs and maintenance cost each year. If you notice your utility and repair bills gradually climbing, your system could be overdue for an upgrade.
Increase in Noise
If your heater is making unusual noises, such as creaking, groaning, or rattling, these could indicate something internal has broken or is about to break.
If you are constantly adjusting the temperature in your building in an attempt to stay comfortable, there may be several issues including poor airflow, duct problems, inadequate insulation, or failing equipment.
If your HVAC unit has become cost inefficient, creates poor indoor air quality, inefficiently heats or cools, is getting old, or is in poor condition, call Industrial Refrigeration Services for a consultation.
